About The Event

 

Guest speakers will be Darren Harper, Program Manager for the Downtown Development Authority of Blairsville, GA, and Ricky Hill, Community Engagement Coordinator at Hinton Center, Hayesville, NC.  Mr. Harper, born in Blairsville and raised in Atlanta, has first-hand knowledge of the critical differences between rural and urban development. As Program Manager for the past six years, Mr. Harper has worked to build a thriving downtown Blairsville that offers a variety of employment and entertainment options.  Ricky Hill, Marine Corps veteran and volunteer for the United Methodist Church’s Disaster Program and Committee on Relief, currently serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator at Hinton Center and works with task force groups related to the 2016 Quality of Life Study. Mr. Hill will share his expertise on local housing.   The Public Policy Network (PPN) is a civic organization that monitors state and national policy proposals that affect individuals and our communities.
