It's no secret how Republicans feel about

abortion.  Their desire to eliminate access to abortion-related healthcare services has been made evident with the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and return the ability to control access to abortions back to the states.  Several new restrictions will be imposed upon women denied abortion services, placing their lives and/or future ability to bear children at risk.

Project 2025 aims to:

  • Eliminate some emergency contraception medications from free preventive care requirements, meaning nearly 2 million women in Georgia would lose guaranteed access to free emergency contraception.

  • Instruct the Department of Justice to misapply the Comstock Act, a pair of laws from 1873 and 1909, to criminalize the mailing of medication abortion.  This would result in near complete ban of abortion nationwide, even in states where abortion services are currently legal.

  • Insist that the Department of Justice takes legal action against local officials who refuse to bring cases against women and doctors who violate state abortion bans, such as Georgia's severe 6-week abortion ban.

  • Reverse approval of chemical abortion drugs currently approved by the FDA.

  • Affirm that Congress should pass the Protecting Life and Taxpayers Act, which would accomplish the goal of defunding abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.

  • Withdraw Medicaid funds for states that require abortion insurance.

  • Audit Hyde Amendment compliance to ensure that no abortions are provided that don't assure the exceptions of either rape, incest, or life of the mother.
